Stay away from alcohol if you are on probation or parole

On Behalf of | Nov 24, 2017 | Parole & Probation

One of the conditions of being on probation or parole is that you have to avoid consuming alcohol. This can be something that is very difficult during the holiday season because so many parties have alcohol offerings.

If you want to remain in compliance with your probation or parole, you need to make sure that you aren’t consuming any alcohol. Here are some tips to help you remain sober over the holidays.

One of the best things you can do is to try to avoid events where you might feel pressured into drinking alcohol. This might not be easy, but you will have to deal with it so that you don’t end up in prison because of a violation.

Another thing that you can do is to have someone with you at all times who can remind you why you don’t need a drink. This person shouldn’t be afraid to speak up for you or even stand up to you if you are starting to consider taking a drink.

You might need to bring some beverages with you so that you can ensure you aren’t having anything with alcohol in it. This is important if you think that there is a chance that someone will misrepresent what is in a beverage.

Try to stay active when you do have to go to events where alcohol is present. Try to focus on eating the snacks at these and drink water if you have to. By staying active, you will keep your mind off of the temptation to drink alcohol.

If you do slip up this holiday season, realize that you might end up facing a violation. You must consider your next steps carefully.
