Reports are now coming out about an arrest that happened in St. Michaels, Maryland, back on the July 24. The whole incident began when someone — who was not named — called the St. Michaels Police Department to lodge a complaint. He or she said that someone was illegally using marijuana.
The complaint came from a building that was located down on Talbot Street. Police officers responded to it to investigate the situation. They were accompanied by the special Talbot narcotics task force.
The residence that the police ended up searching was inhabited by a young man who was just 18 years old at the time. They found paraphernalia that was said to be related to a dangerous controlled substance. They also found some devices used for smoking marijuana. On top of all of that, they found what they believed to be a large amount of marijuana itself.
Due to all of these items and others that were recovered from the residence, the police suspected that the man was distributing the drugs to others.
The young man was arrested and now faces charges that center around distribution of a controlled, dangerous substance. He was charged for possession of the substance. All told, he is facing four different counts. After being charged, he was released.
When someone is accused of drug crimes, the period of time following his or her arrest is very important. A defendant may want to look into his or her rights and legal options. After all, everyone has the right to a fair trial, no matter how many counts he or she is facing or what the charges may be.
