Maryland residents may be interested to learn of a recent development related to a drunk driving accident that occurred in a neighboring state. On July 11, police arrested a 30-year-old man on several charges arising out of an incident that occurred on June 19.

The accident occurred on Baltimore Pike Road near Deer Road at approximately 10:30 p.m. The man is accused of becoming involved in a road rage incident with another driver. Police believe that the other driver was unknown to the man. Police officers claim that he drove aggressively for several miles before he allegedly swerved into oncoming traffic. The man’s Chrysler Voyager collided head-on with a Mitsubishi Gallant and hit a stopped Mazda MSX. The Chrysler’s driver now faces several DUI charges. Police have also charged him with aggravated assault by vehicle, reckless driving, following too closely, careless driving and driving without a license. His blood alcohol level was not disclosed.

All three vehicles sustained serious damage. The Mitsubishi’s 17-year-old driver was taken to Hanover Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. It was not stated whether the Mazda’s driver was injured. The Chrysler’s driver was treated for serious injuries at York Hospital. Following his arrest, the man was arraigned and bail was set at $15,000. It was not stated whether he was able to post bond.

When a person is accused of driving under the influence, a criminal defense lawyer may be able to help review the evidence to determine the best way to attack the case. That could mean filing motions to suppress evidence seized without a warrant. It could mean negotiating with the prosecutor, or it could mean taking the case to trial.
