Man charged in Christmas Day Robbery

A 40-year-old Maryland man was charged for his alleged involvement a robbery that occurred on Dec. 25. According to the 23-year-old man who reported the robbery, the man and an accomplice approached him at approximately 5:05 p.m. on Glen Ridge Road with a handgun and told him to hand over his money. He stated that he complied with the demands and gave them an amount of cash that was not specified in the report. According to the witness, the two men then fled the scene.

The man who claimed to have been robbed stated that he knew the accused thief and was able to provide an address. The accused man was taken into custody and charged with armed robbery and theft under $1,000. At the time the report was released, officers were still searching for the second individual allegedly involved in the incident.

Those who are facing a theft charge may be facing serious consequences should they be convicted, such as a prison sentence, probation and hefty fines. In addition, the conviction also goes on their permanent record, which could potentially make it difficult for them to obtain steady employment later on.

It is possible that some individuals may file false allegations of robbery against a particular person. In these cases, an attorney may be able to help dispute the charges by providing evidence that their client was falsely accused. If the prosecution has strong evidence to support the charges, the attorney might be able to negotiate a lighter sentence by having their client go on probation or enter into a rehabilitation center if drugs or alcohol fueled the robbery.
